WP Dark Customization Kit

WP Dark Customization Kit

After releasing the “Dark Theme” for Wordpress I’ve been asked several times how to incorporate a custom logo into the header. So I decided to to release a small customization kit, which includes a PSD file and a short description of how to change the CSS accordingly.

Creating the Logo

In a first step make sure that you have’ve installed the latest version of the theme. Then download the Customization Kit and open the included Photoshop file. I’ve already set up some guides so that you get an idea of where to place your logo. After placing your logo select it by using the “rectangular marquee tool”, copy it to a new file (copy merged) and save it in your theme’s “images” folder. Personally I prefer to name it “logo”, but anything else works fine :)

CSS modifications

Now it’s time to modify the CSS in order to display the just created logo in the header area of your site. So open “style.css”, locate the “header” section and add the following rule:

#header h1 a {
background: transparent url(images/logo.gif) no-repeat 0 0;
display: block;   height: 60px;   line-height: 1000px;
overflow: hidden;   width: 360px; }

and change the “top” property’s value in the following rule to 75px:

#header h1, #header img.logo {
position: absolute;
left: 40px;   top: 75px;
border: none;
 }

By the way these two rule assume that your image is 360×60px in size. If your image is larger or smaller make sure that you modify the width, height and top properties accordingly. And that’s it. Refresh your browser and enjoy

Top 100 Best Wordpress Theme

Over the past five years Wordpress has gone from strength to strength and seen a huge increase in community developers and followers. This of course also extends to Wordpress theme development. Themes are now being turned out on a daily basis, but for the non-coders among us, out of the hundreds of themes on offer, only a select few are worthy of using on our blogs - not only in an aesthetic sense, but also more importantly in terms of functionality and adaptability.

If you’re like me, when you look for a new theme you think customisation and after almost three years of blogging and tinkering with a fair amount of Wordpress themes, I’ve built up a kind of repertoire, which I’ll share with you below. This is by no means a definitive list as taste is always a subjective affair, but I guess you’ll just have to trust me on that one. The list is intended to be updated so I’ll keep an active link to it in my blog’s sidebar. And please note that while entries are numbered they are not placed in any particular ranking order. Enjoy.

Top Ten Wordpress Theme

I have been a bit late in publishing this. But rest assured I have managed to collect some of the best and excellent high quality Wordpress themes and Templates in the past four months. While last time I featured some really good Wordpress Themes. This time I found that most of the Themes that made into the Top ten list were themes and templates that the Theme authors themselves are using or were using in the past.

Best Cool Blue Wordpress Themes

1. Fresh, Dark, and Not-So-Fresh Wordpress Template

These are some of the most amazingly designed Wordpress theme and extremely popular templates. They were originally Designed by the amazing Web Designer bartelme.at for his own personal blog which runs on Expression Engine. These themes have been featured on a large number of CSS Galleries. Every time bartelme redesigned his blog he would release the previous theme to the public. Ilemoned took the trouble to convert the themes into Wordpress templates.

The Dark Theme: is the latest release from bartelme and is ten times better than the Fresh Theme. It is a multi-column Wordpress Theme with a extremely well designed interface.
